Cleared by the doc
Well, I just got back from seeing Dr. McCarty, and she gave me a (mostly) clean bill of health. Both of my IT bands are stiff, my right one being very stiff, but if I stretch it well, I should be able to run again just fine. No real damage was done.
Phew! That’s a relief all by itself. It turns out that the rest, the icing, and the ibuprofen that I did was exactly what I needed to do. Thank goodness for the Internet as an injury resource.
Now, that means that I have four days to get ready for the RunTex 30K down in Buda on Saturday. But I can do it. I’m going to take it easy, stretch before the run, during the run, and after the run - oh, and if it hurts, I’m stopping, stretching, and if necessary walking the remainder. But I’m doing it alright.
I’m also planning on doing two slow runs this week - 20 minutes today, and 30 minutes on Thursday. Then ~200 minutes on Saturday!
