Slow and painful
Well, I did two miles in twenty minutes. Not counting stretching at the 5, 10 and 15 minute marks - calves and ITB. What concerns me a little is that my heart way was way up during the run. This is a pretty slow speed for me, and even though the room was hot (treadmill at the office) and I was only doing 5 minute burts … I was still turning in 160-175bpm. Whew!
Tomorrow, I’m going to go for 30 minutes, with breaks at 6, 12, 18, and 24. Then 45 on Thursday with breaks at 8, 16, 24, and 32. Friday, I’ll do 35 minutes with breaks at 9, 18 and 27. Then if all works according to plan, I should be ready for my 9 miler on Saturday (breaks every 10).
I’m running at a 10 minute pace all this week, no faster. The good news is that I was feeling better when I ended then when I started. Its not much, but I’ll take it.
