Cut it short
Well, we were supposed to do nine miles today - I did four. I was also sweating pretty hard, something which I found out from Eliza happens a lot when you’re still getting into shape and are coming back from an injury. The first couple of miles were alright, my left leg loosening up fine, but about halfway through mile three my right ITB started tweaking on me again. After talking to her some more, since she was also doing a short run due to a tight tendon, I figured that discretion was the better part of valor and walked it on in.
Talked to Dr. Spears for a bit, and he gave me a new stretch (”The stretch for ITB,” or so he claims). Waited around for RunTex to open, and talked shoes for a while - it turns out that my right foot does pronate a little more than my left does. Who knew? The good news is that my (fairly new) Saucony Triumphs should still be alright, and that I probably am just experiencing “New Marathoner IT Band Issues.” Whatever those are. I ordered another pair of the Triumphs, and called it a day.
