Pain is good, right?
Wrong. At least, not when its my knee. We got together for our last pre-marathon AustinFit meeting today, and shuffled out to do a basic 4.75 mile loop: up to Congress, out to MoPac, and back. I felt pretty good, if cold, at first, but by the time we got to MoPac my knee was aching a little. Lots of stretching, but more pain as we started to go East back to RunTex. I ended up walking it in - both to save the knee, and because it was really hurting.
Quite a lot actually.
Why now, when the 21 miler was so good? Who knows. Anyway, I’m going to call Dr. McCarty on Monday and get in for a Cortisone shot at this point. One way or another, I am going to run, and finish, the marathon next week.
The good news was that after the run, we all went out to Polvo’s for breakfast. Mmm, migas. Not much good news this week, so I’ll take what I can get.
