We’re getting close
I’m starting to see the signs of a pending marathon popping up around town. Literally - the little signs that say, “Don’t drive here on Sunday morning, you’ll really regret it and you won’t get to where you’re trying to get to - oh, and by the time that you do, you’ll really need to pee.” Or something like that.
Its odd. I’m still not really worried. Everyone is telling me that I should be though. I’m nervous, yes, but mainly about my knee. Ever since I decided, at mile 5 or so, to finish the Buda 30K, I’ve known that I can finish the marathon. I really don’t want to hurt myself doing it, and I desparately want my knee to be sound so that I can get a somewhat respectable time doing so.
In other words, I’d hate to have to limp in to a 6 hour finish with a bunch of my friends watching.
I’m planning on stretching and doing a hard two miles just before lunch today, then three more on Thursday. Then nothing else until Sunday, where I’ll be doing 26.2.
