I need a break
Actually, my body needs a break. I tried to do a nice, short 3 miler today, after a pretty good amount of stretching. More than I had time for on marathon morning, to be honest. After about a quarter mile, my right knee started hurting - that pesky ITB again. Stopped, stretched, ran another quarter or so - same result. So I turned around and walked back.
Sigh.
Anyway, I’ve decided that I’m not going to run for the next few weeks. During that time, I’ll concentrate on cross-training and stretching, working on my ITB as much as possible. I’ll try to keep on using the elliptical trainer at the gym, and even add some strength training in for my lower body to really get these legs in good shape. My next run will almost certainly be the BagelFest 5K on March 14th, which I’ll use as a baseline for my speed training this summer.
