Concrete Work
Well, I spent about two hours today busting concrete with Marcus, one of my usual workout buddies. You know something? This is hard work! We alternated between using a 10lb sledgehammer and what feels like a 40 lb “breaker bar” (a 6 foot spike that you pull down hard onto the concrete). I figure that we got about 15% of the concrete broken up, but we were certainly getting more efficient by the end of it. Call it another 10-15 hours of work remaining.
Was it an efficient targeted workout? Not at all. Was it a real workout? Absolutely! Triceps got a moderate workout, biceps got a good workout, forearms were sore, and the “gripping muscles” in our hands were hit really hard. By the end, it was getting slightly difficult to unclasp our hands from the bar when it was time to take a break.
