Gentle Fartleks
Well, moderately gentle at least. Marcus and I got up early enough to get in a couple of miles of speedwork before leaving Florida. As soon as we were outside, we were wondering why the heck we were so eagar to run in humidityville. Ah, well.
This was pretty basic. Did the first mile (rolling hills) in 7:50, and that included about 30 seconds of walking after a sprint across the Tom’s Bayou bridge. After that, we just played fartlek by interweaving some decent walking (15:00) with periods of 8:00 to 6:30 running. Going back at the end of the run, I did the .14 mile bridge in 52 seconds, for a 6:11 average pace across the distance - didn’t even feel too bad, although it was certainly an effort.
That was pretty much it - walked a bit more, did some stretching, stopped in at the corner store for some PowerAde (on special: 2 32oz bottles for $1.22!), and did a few drills back to the house, but nothing serious. Lighthearted, but fun.
