Random Pace Note
Current Boston Marathon qualifying time: 3:10 or a 7:15 pace
Current Men’s Olympic “B” Standard for the UK team: 2:18 or a 5:16 pace
You know - the more I run, and think about it, and read weblogs like Alison’s, the more comfortable I am with the idea of hitting a BQ time in the next couple of years. And the other one? No, I wouldn’t expect to be running Olympic paces, but its good to keep things in perspective. After all, seeing how much faster people go on a regular basis can only help me with my mental comfort level. If you look around you and very few people are breaking 20:00 in a 5K, you consider that to be fast. If you need an 18:00 or less to get an age group award, hitting 20:00 no longer seems all that daunting (or unlikely).
