Rainy Day Blues
I forgot a point that I was meaning to make on that Wilke post. As we started running backwards up the hill, it started to rain. It continued off and on for a bit, and then started raining in ernest as we headed out for the ~3 mile run back to our cars.
Normally I like running in the rain. Not this time. First, it was just nasty cold wet rain - nothing special about it. Second, I was dog tired[1]. Third, probably related to #1 and #2, it just emphasized the fact that I still need to lose 5-10 pounds as my wet running shirt glued itself to my belly. Sigh. Not the most positive thoughts to be thinking as I waddle my way back, but there you have it.
And to top it off, its been raining heavily ever since. Which pretty much means that a 20+ mile bike ride is unlikely to happen this evening. And since I’m not going to do one less than 12 hours before my next Gazelle workout, that means that Thursday will be the soonest I can get one in. Ah, well.

[1] That would be as tired as our lazy lab when he doesn’t want to get out of bed in the morning, not as tired as our hyperactive collie/shepherd who thinks that if you get out of bed at 3am to go to the bathroom that your next move will obviously be a half-hour wrestle (with frenzied licking) followed by a run. Hasn’t been so far, but that doesn’t seem to discourage her from hoping.

If I may offer a dissenting view to the Inner Critic, who came along with you today:
Dear Critic- Richard’s doing just fine. At least he got up and did it anyway. Celebrate that belly. That belly had some good times. It’s okay, Critic. You’re trying to help. But Richard’s training up an Inner Coach instead, and the coach knows those 10 pounds are coming off from all his good work, not your griping. So there. Pound sand, Critic.
(What I tend to say to MY inner critic, only for your audience).
