Little Run
Well, I’m officially back in the swing of things, I hope. Did a quick run with Bear today since I missed my morning outing (trying to find a balance between sleeping, running and daylight). So we headed out to the park at about 8pm for a brisk jog.
My local park has a 2km asphalt trail, so that’s what we did. I ran a single lap in 9:43 for a 7:49 pace, then walked a kilometer, then ran a final kilometer in 4:42 for a 7:34 pace. I was going to do 2km for the last one, but cut it short due to tiredness. At the end of both runs, I was breathing pretty hard - after the first, my HR was up at a measured 180 bpm! Like I mentioned, my endurance is shot after so much inactivity. So, figure a total of 3km ran, 3km walked (including to and from the park).
This, like everything else, will get better :-)
AustinFit starts up at the end of the month. I’m going to be doing a minimum of three laps in 30 minutes or less before that point. Yup. I’m going to aim right at the 8:00 pace group for LSD runs as well. Ain’t nowhere to go from here but faster, longer, stronger and fitter! More than that, I’m keeping my end of year goals the same. No slack for injuries here! The only one that might be troubling is that one about doing two marathons this year. Still, there’s always the possibility that I could do White Rock in Dallas as a training run…

It doesn’t look like you’ve lost much in the speed department. You will be back in shape in no time. I’ll have to watch out when you get back in the training group…

Welcome back! I’ve been checking religiously. I think I’ve looked at least once a weekday with the hopes that you’d jump back into the fray. Glad you’ve found your footing again.
