Pervasive Thoughts
So I went and drove the Pervasive course today. Normally this gives me additional confidence about the race - and I did learn some good things about the course. Still, I also learned that its pretty much non-stop rolling hills with one really steep hill (that keeps going after it looks like its over, which is a little unfair). Since none of my running post-MCL has been on very hilly courses, I’m a little doubtful about how good my time will be.
Still, I may not get a good time, but I can at least have a good time. And who knows - I could surprise myself! At least this race I’ll be well rested for, which will help immensely. I should be able to do this at a 7:45 pace (if it were flat) by EOY - I think that my goal this time will be 8:15, and I’ll be happy if I can get an 8:30 just because of the course. The half marathon a month later will make for an interesting comparison, since its in the same general area.
Now I just have to figure out when I’m going to get my 9 miles in today; probably about 6pm.
