Cold, wet and nasty
And no, before someone asks, that’s not “just how I like it.” As I mentioned in my last post, its raining today. Neither the light refreshing rain nor the dramatic puddle-splash-inducing downpours we sometimes get, just a cold, wet, miserably grey rainy day. As I was doing my ITB stretches underneath the South First bridge, I had a moment of wondering if I was crazy - then figured that I probably was, but I’d made a commitment to get this run in anyway. So I did.
Seven miles, intentionally easy, along the same course I did last night. This time I took 1:06:24, or a 9:32 pace, to do the loop; I intentionally slowed things down whenever I thought about it and ended up right on target. The good news is that my Landreths proved to be wonderful shoes for running in the rain: plenty of traction, very waterproof in shallow puddles, and somehow able to wick/shed moisture after running through the many surprisingly deep puddles I seemed to hit today.
I did have a mild ITB tweak at mile six, so I stopped and stretched for about 20 seconds then continued running with no further issues. A little ice this afternoon and it should be fine. My toes are slightly warm, too - I’m still getting used to the increased mileage I’ve been doing lately. Other than that, nothing much happening here - just a regular ol’ run.
