Great First Marathon
I had read this a little while ago, but I wanted to share it with the rest of you. Here’s a writeup by BD about his first marathon - and IMO he did it exactly the right way. Very cool.

Wow, thank you for the kind words.
I think the way I approached the race might not feel right for some people, depending on their goals. If I were trying to qualify for Boston or beat a particular time then I ran the race completely wrong. But those weren’t my goals. My goals were to finish and enjoy the experience. Once I let go of the time goal (and that was very hard to do) I was able to relax and truly enjoy every second of the day. My marathon was not a grueling experience. It was quite the opposite. It was a celebration and a reward for my hard training. It was a birthday present to myself.
Thanks again for your kind words and for sharing my experience with others.
Best,
BD
