That was only 70 degrees?
We went out for a couple of miles of walking the dogs this morning, then Stephanie took Sabrina back home while Bear and I took off running. We covered almost exactly three miles, doing about half the distance on single track and the other half on asphalt, at a little over an 8:30 pace. Running with him on the trail was interesting since I had to slow down for the more technical portions and he didn’t - which gave me about 8 feet of flexi-leash to get through the rocks/roots/whatever before he’d start tugging (which would make it harder, naturally).
I made sure to drink up befor leeaving, but after the first two miles we were both really hot, and I started curving us gently towards home at that point. On the third mile Bear was beginning to slow down, and I sure felt like it myself. When we got home I was covered in sweat and he was really frothing, and we both downed a large amount of fluid (PowerAde for me, water straight from the outside faucet for him).
The funny thing was that according to weather.com its only seventy degrees outside. I don’t know if its just the direct sunlight or what, but it sure didn’t feel like a breezy seventy. Still, its a great day to be wearing shorts and sandals!
Tomorrow I have a conference call at 9:00am, but I really want to get 8-12 miles in. I’ll either have to get up really early, or go out when its hot. Hmm. Whatever happens, I am going to do the distance.

Hey, I’ve always heard that your perception of temperature goes up by 20 degrees — which means it was 90 degrees when you did your trail run. Sheesh, that’s warm! It sounds the fun is coming back, though.

Shorts and sandals? Thanks for rubbing it in!
Glad you and the pooch had a good run. I remember that dog in the last 1/2 marathon. He obviously had been on a few runs with the owner. He had his own number and everything.

And now we’re being punished with torrential rain that blew sideways so hard this morning it looked like a white-out from my building’s window.
I agree about Austin temps. Honestly, the temperature out in the woods where the trees block the breeze gets hotter than other more exposed places. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.
My Labrador definitely DOES NOT pull me along. You have a spritely one there. Mine lags behind wanting to pee on everything since he knows I’ll have to stop for that.

I am so jealous! Go for the later afternoon run and enjoy the hot, sunny weather (and then send some of it here). Good luck with your 8-12.
