Speedwork in Queens Park
The closest underground station to us was Queen’s Park; in fact I’d been going through the park to get there for a couple of days. That’s why when it was time to do some speedwork, that seemed like a natural place to do it. It was only about three minutes away from the house, so I ran around the park until I’d warmed up for ten minutes, then did my standard set of Gazelle drills. I’m sure I looked pretty strange to some of the folk doing their morning commute!
Once I was warmed up, I started doing fast laps of the short circuit inside the park. Unfortunately my GPS kept flaking out on me, but I think it was around a 600M loop - that’s extrapolated, of course. I gave myself plenty of recovery between laps, about 90 seconds.
Time: 2:28 - 2:41 - 2:38 - 2:33 - 2:39 - 2:44
After that last one I was pretty beat, so I did about a five minute cooldown lap and went back to the house. Its certainly not as disciplined as I have been used to, but at least its something so that when I get back into town next week I won’t be completely out of shape!
