Long Run Thought
I did manage to talk to Gilbert for a couple of minutes at RunTex after the workout today; I asked him how fast I should be doing my long runs. He grinned, and told me to run easy, just how I feel, but to do the last 30 minutes harder. He said that this wouldn’t last - he’ll be getting together with me in a few weeks to plan out my fall marathon training schedule - and to just enjoy the weekend long runs for now and relax through them. Sounds like a plan to me.

I wish I had someone to tell me when to hold back. To me, that is probably one of the biggest things a coach can do.

Indeed. I think it’s so cool that you’re working with Gilbert. It sounds like your efforts are so focused, which I could really use.
BTW, one of your Google text ads was for a Portland, OR running resource that I had never seen. Very cool. Thank you, and hope you are well!!

A personal coach is a nice thing to have. Even if he kinda enjoys pounding you into shape. :)
