Seven and Strides
Beautiful weather this morning - mid seventies, not too much humidity, and a nice breeze. So of course we did a recovery run. This was just a nice easy jaunt around the seven mile loop, which was finished in 1:04:49 (including a water stop about five miles in), call it a bit under a 9:15 running pace and you wouldn’t be too far off.
That was the recovery portion since we’d done 20 this weekend. Once we were finished it was time for a little speed - just a little - so we lined up on the grass at Auditorium shores and did 20X100M acceleration strides. Nothing fancy, just run out using the exaggerated form and jog back easy, with no waiting around at either end. These felt really nice, and while I wasn’t stiff before I’m feeling even better now. Gilbert finished off by telling us to run easy again tomorrow because we’re doing some hard 1000M track repeats on Wednesday; also he encouraged us to get a massage in the next couple of days. Sounds like good advice to me.
