Recovery Strides
Just like we did after our last twenty miler, the plan this morning was to do seven miles nice and easy, followed by about ten minutes of acceleration strides. I kept a very easy pace for the run, jogging with Jason, and the strides felt really nice afterwards. Chatting with some of the other folk, it sounds like a large number of people had problems on Saturday, either due to hydration issues or inadequate preparation. I guess I got lucky, even if I was a little bit off my pace from last time around.
When we were done with out strides we formed up for some footwork drills; these kicked off with a good five minutes of bouncing (feet together, striding, back and forth, side to side, etc) that really did a number on my calves. These were followed in turn with form drills, just doing very exaggerated leg lifts and foot strikes. If that wasn’t enough, we had to finish up with 100 situps and 20 pushups. Now, these shouldn’t be that hard, but I think I only completed 60-70 situps. My abs were aching, probably due in no small part to Sunday’s ride. The pushups were easy, at least.
