Easy Run
I ended up running alone this morning - I guess everyone I normally run with is cutting back since they’re into their tapers. Ah, well. When I got into my car I actually thought, “Hey, its a little cold,” but with the radio reminding me that it was 77 degrees (on a day when the high’s expected to hit 101) its really just that its not as hot as it has been. Anyway, after determining that nobody else was showing up I chatted with Gilbert for a few minutes about my goals. He said that I was running strong, that I’d do much better after the taper, and basically confirmed that everything was on target. Cool.
After waiting a few more minutes since people often get to the recovery runs a little late I headed out and took a left onto the trail, retracing my tempo run from yesterday. I ran really slowly, just letting my legs recover from their gym workout and allowing my mind to spool up, going over todo lists for the day. One problem with not having anyone to run with though: I ended up cutting over on Congress and doing five miles instead of seven. I made up for it a little with a set of five 100M strides at the end, and got the benefit I needed; still, with missing Monday and a shorter run yesterday this may end up being a sub-40 week, even with my upcoming 20-22 miler Saturday morning.
