Core 101
I just got back from doing my first ever Core class at Jack and Adam’s. Wow. The class itself is basic, almost (but not quite) childish in its simplicity. The theory? Work your core muscles to exhaustion. Then do it again. And again. And again. Repeat until you can’t lift, pull, or crunch any more. Then do pull-ups.
After the class was over I asked Adam how long it typically took an out-of-core-shape newbie like myself to be able to complete the whole thing. I was reassured(?) that even after many months, I probably couldn’t do it. This seemed fair, since I don’t think anybody there other than Adam finished without taking at least a couple of unscheduled breaks.
Easy? No. Fun? Eh - moderately. Worthwhile? Absolutely, possibly more than any other workout I’ll be doing this season gearing up for White Rock. At slightly less than 23 weeks out and counting, I need to get cracking.
